Part-Time Young Persons Support Worker Opportunity – Weston-Super-Mare Location: Client’s home and local community Position Type: Part-time Working Hours: Week 1: Monday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Week 2: Monday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday or Thursday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM The weekly hours are 8 hours during term time and 16 hours during school holidays. About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to provide buddy support for a bright and spirited 12-year-old boy with a hypoxic brain injury living in Weston-Super-Mare. He is non-verbal but communicates confidently using Makaton and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). He loves engaging in a variety of fun activities such as: Arcades & soft play Bowling & cinema trips (he loves dancing in the aisles!) Horse riding Banger racing with his dad Outdoor adventures in local parks You’ll be working closely with a warm, loving family who are passionate about providing the best opportunities for their son. What We’re Looking For: Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) – essential Familiarity with AAC and Makaton – essential Experience with Epilepsy is strongly recommended Knowledge of or experience with positive behaviour support – essential Confident around animals (the family has dogs, horses, and rabbits) Active, enthusiastic, and able to keep up with a busy and lively young person Patient, creative, and adaptable to the child’s changing moods and preferences A nurturing and flexible approach to care This role is ideal for those working or seeking experience in SEN school environments.
