Location: Bristol
Hybrid/Remote working: The role will be onsite 4 days per week. A 4 day working week is OK (Monday to Thursday).
Duration: 12 Months with very likely extension. Contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter.
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Job Description:
The HMI & Cyber team is looking for software engineers to join us developing the future Laser defence capability for the Royal Navy. We are looking for engineers with both a deep and broad range of experience in software engineering throughout the development as well as being able to support and mentor other engineers in their team.
Responsibilities:
1. Development of a C++ HMI application on a Linux Operating System
2. To undertake a full range of engineering activities in line with relevant processes, quality and other requirements
3. Be capable of developing collaborative relationships with team members both within the SW organisation and other parts of the company
4. Be willing and able to support other engineers within the team
Skillset/experience required:

5. Use of C++ in a safety related environment
6. Knowledge of Software development practices and process is required
7. A Software Engineer capable of design, development and proving of efficient Software.
Bonus Experience/Knowledge:
8. Experience using Qt GUI framework
9. Integration and use of GIS tools
10. Information security experience included methods of locking down operating systems and deployment in a Windows and Linux environment.
11. Knowledge of DDS Middleware
12. Integration of external video streams
13. Automated Testing
