Overview

Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and inclusive environment? Our client, a well-established primary school in Barnet, London, is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs. In this full-time position, you will work closely with the class teacher and the SEN team to ensure the pupil receives the necessary support and guidance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will assist in implementing individualised learning plans, adapting teaching materials, and providing personalised attention to help the pupil overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a primary school or SEN setting, along with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment for the pupil. A good understanding of safeguarding and health & safety protocols is also required.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting an inclusive and nurturing learning environment, where every child feels valued and supported. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young learner, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed.


Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs in a primary school setting.
* Work closely with the class teacher and the SEN team to implement individualised learning plans.
* Adapt teaching materials and provide personalised attention to help the pupil overcome challenges and achieve goals.
* Promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment and support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development.


Qualifications

* Previous experience in a primary school or SEN setting.
* Manual handling or hoist training (essential).
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
* Strong communication skills.
* A good understanding of safeguarding and health & safety protocols.


Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary of £90 - £125 per day, depending on experience and qualifications. The school is committed to ongoing professional development opportunities to support your growth and progression in the field of special educational needs.
