Band 5 Pharmacy Technician

There is an opportunity to join our established team of specialist mental health technicians here in the Black Country. You will work alongside our pharmacists to support patients on the wards and those under community teams. Our state‑of‑art older adult units, along with Psychiatric intensive care and learning disabilities gives a variety to the role. We champion staff clinical knowledge through in‑house training and attending professional courses. The Trust is committed to improving patient care by introducing "hospital at home" wards to support patients in a more familiar environment. Pharmacy is excited to be joining this new venture and are looking for enthusiastic technicians to take mental health pharmacy in a new direction.
Main duties of the job
* Medicine reconciliation and management
* Co-ordinating and planning an accurate and efficient pharmacy service for in-patients and community teams within a technicians remit.
* Supporting outpatient clinics such as our Clozapine Service
* Ensuring correct storage and handling of pharmaceuticals in accordance with relevant SOPs/ Standards.
* Supervising pharmacy technicians, student technicians and other support staff working within pharmacy specialist area(s).
* Supports in the development and delivery of procedures
* Supporting KPI targets within area of work.
This role is based on a 5-day (Mon-Fri) working week, with no expectation to take part in an evenings, weekend, or bank holidays rota. Dispensing services are outsourced to a 3rd party. You will be based at one of our 4 in-patient hospitals in Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell or Wolverhampton. Part time applications will be considered.
Job responsibilities
You will have a passion for medicines management and will work as a respected member of a multidisciplinary team within the Trust. You will play a key role in supporting the medicines management services to ensure we provide the best possible care for our service users and support to staff. You will need to be resourceful, able to manage your time effectively and prioritise your own workload.
You should have previous hospital experience including medicine reconciliation, with mental health exposure being desirable although not essential.
