Overview
Personal Assistant required for a happy and energetic 14-year-old boy who lives in the Saltash area. He has autism and would like a 1:1 support person to build a positive relationship and help with communication and social skills out in the community. He enjoys being outdoors and has interests in trains, climbing, swimming, tobogganing, adrenaline sports, coding, and playing Roblox and train simulator on the Xbox. A Personal Assistant will enable him to enjoy activities in his local community.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to improve communication and social skills in the community.
* Plan and accompany activities that promote independence away from family, aligned with his interests.
* Engage in outdoor activities and activities related to his interests (trains, climbing, swimming, tobogganing, adrenaline sports, coding, Roblox).
* Support in using public and community resources to build independence.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
* Car driver preferred with business class insurance.
* Employed under a private arrangement with the family (not employed by Cornwall Council).
* Agreement to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; enhanced DBS check required (administration process undertaken by Cornwall Council).
Details
* Pay: £13 per hour, subject to review.
* Hours: Up to 9 hours per week, with flexibility; weekend and school holiday availability will be required.
