We’re working with a high-growth software business that is rethinking how a company should operate in an AI-first world.
Rather than layering AI onto existing processes, they are building a company-wide AI operating layer from the ground up, where intelligent agents execute workflows across the business and traditional tools act as an interface rather than the core system.
This is an opportunity to help design and build that from first principles.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional AI, data, or engineering role.
As AI Automation Engineer you will be responsible for taking how the business operates and translating it into structured workflows, decision logic, and AI-driven systems.
You’ll work across the entire organisation, not just one function, building systems that automate and enhance how work gets done.
What You’ll Be Doing
Break down business functions into workflows, decision logic, and inputs and outputs, then:
* Design and deploy LLM-powered workflows and agent-based systems
* Build automation across functions including commercial, operations, and internal processes
* Connect systems and data through APIs, integrations, and workflow tooling
* Work closely with technical leadership to shape how AI is embedded across the business
* Continuously improve and refine systems based on performance and real-world usage
What We’re Looking For
2-5 years experience in building:
* Automation systems
* Workflows
* AI or LLM-based solutions
Hands-on experience with:
* APIs and integrations
* Workflow tools (e.g. n8n, Make, Zapier or similar)
* Automation systems
* Agent-based processes
You should also have the ability to think in systems and logic, not just tools, and will be comfortable working across in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Why This Role
* You’re not optimising one function, you’re helping build a new operating model for the entire business
* High ownership, working directly with senior leadership
* No legacy systems or technical debt to work around
* Opportunity to shape how AI agents are used across a real organisation, not just prototypes
If you enjoy breaking down how businesses work and rebuilding them using AI and automation, this is a genuinely unique opportunity.
Package and Location
Joining this high-performing, collaborative team and you will receive a highly competitive basic salary of £60k-£90k plus benefits and potential for equity options.
Please note, this is a hybrid role with 1 day per week onsite in the London office (TBC - likely Holborn / Waterloo area).
