We have full time secondment ( months) available on Trauma Ward A, this post is to provide secondment cover.
The Trauma unit is a dedicated building housing inpatient wards and an outpatients department on the John Radcliffe site. Trauma Ward A cares for a variety of patients with traumatic injuries, including spinal injury, polytrauma and fragility fractures.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve you being a team leader to a group of band RNs/ band RNAs, and nursing assistants. You will be the line manager for your team, and will supervise them in caring for a team of patients on the ward. You will have overall responsibility for the care of those patients during their admission.
In addition to this you will act as nurse in charge on clinical shifts, overseeing all patients and nursing staff on the ward during that shift. You will also hold the senior nurse bleep for the Trauma Service and will work alongside the other band deputies and the clinical education team to support the development of staff on the ward.
You will provide support to and deputise for the Ward Sister, in particular with regards to audit activity, incident investigation and roster creation.
