Job Description: Electrician (Temporary)

We are currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the estates and facilities team of a major public-sector organisation in Sheffield. This role involves working across a diverse property portfolio, including both historic buildings and modern facilities. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality electrical maintenance, repairs, testing, and installation work within a busy, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on electrical systems and building services equipment.
* Undertake electrical installation work as part of small upgrades and improvement projects.
* Perform mandatory electrical testing in line with current regulations and interpret results accurately.
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults across a variety of electrical installations and equipment.
* Work on systems such as lighting, emergency lighting, alarms, power distribution, and basic BMS components.
* Follow all relevant electrical safety procedures, including Permit to Work systems.
* Use appropriate tools and equipment and participate in ongoing training to keep technical skills up to date.
* Ensure a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and building users.
Candidate Requirements
* Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) with a completed apprenticeship.
* Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a large or complex estate.
* Strong knowledge of electrical testing, inspection, and compliance standards.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative to resolve issues effectively.
* Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across different building types and priorities.
