Length of employment: Job Summary: The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. HQ ARRC (Allied Rapid Reaction Corps) sits within the Field (Fd) Army structure which is part of the Army, a major part of the MOD. HQ ARRC provides NATO with a rapidly deployable, flexible HQ that can act as a Joint, Land or Corps HQ for operations and crisis response. Its multi-national ethos, combination of cultures and innovation, strong professional reputation in NATO and proven track record in interoperability are unique among its High Readiness Force (Land) (HRF(L)) peers. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job Description: With the expansion of HQ ARRC, the role has been created to manage a proportion of the discipline casework from ARRCs subordinate formations. As well as assuring casework, they will be involved in advising brigades and units on policy and how to manage difficult cases, and highlighting errors to ensure that cases are progressed and decided without any undue delay and in line with KPIs. Key responsibilities: Oversee a proportion of ARRCs Service Law, Warning & Sanction and Service Complaints casework, supporting fairness and parity of dealing by ensuring casework complies with Law, regulation and Army policies and procedures. To provide guidance and advice to units within ARRC and the Chain of Command (CoC) on the policy relating to discipline casework, promulgating policy updates as required. Manage the casework progression of any Headquarters ARRC internal discipline cases (Service Law and Warning and Sanctions), including any liaison with Service Police, civilian police and other relevant agencies, including updates on IT systems. Assurance of all Discipline (Service Law, Warning and Sanctions) casework in accordance with the Army Personal Services Group Assurance Framework Assist in the delivery of discipline training and briefs as required to units and Brigade Staff (Bde staff) in order to address any training gaps Manage all discipline statistics, including Compulsory Drug Testing and Discharges. Preparation of Bespoke Powers Certificates in accordance with policy requirements. Line Management for Discipline Clerk Secretary for Discipline interviews as required. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Must enjoy being part of a team and want to work together to the benefit of those we are supporting. A keen eye for detail and the ability to think through a task for the follow-on steps will be vital to enable you to advise brigades and units on how to progress cases without delay. An inquisitive mind to be able to delve into policy to find the right answers to queries. There is a need for absolute discretion regarding the casework information that will be available to you. You should be aware that some of the cases you will be privy to may require you to have a degree of mental resilience. Desirable skills: Experience of working within the military discipline system, and previously worked in a staff role within the Pers or discipline arena.
