Job Title: Temporary Supervisor - School Transport
Pertemps is delighted to be recruiting for a temporary Supervisor to work with our public sector client in Edinburgh, supporting the busy School Transport department.
Location: Edinburgh East
Rate of Pay: £16.37 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
Duration: Minimum 6 months
Start Date: Immediate
Responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the Team Leader in operating scheduled transport rosters to meet demand.
2. Assisting with the coordination and delivery of transport services, including planning, organization, and risk management.
3. Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on transport activities, recommending improvements.
4. Ensuring effective delivery of scheduled and demand-responsive operations, compliance with policies.
5. Allocating passengers to suitable vehicle journeys, including private hire contracts.
6. Planning routes using Booking and Scheduling technology.
7. Responding to non-scheduled requests and implementing operational changes.
8. Collaborating with colleagues and agencies on maintenance and service issues.
9. Managing vehicle breakdowns, defects, and maintaining accurate records.
10. Providing monthly performance reports to the Citywide Service Manager.
11. Maintaining Booking and Scheduling System and vehicle checks.
12. Ensuring vehicle hygiene and safety equipment are maintained.
13. Assisting with recruitment of drivers and Passenger Assistants.
14. Coordinating collection and delivery of goods and equipment.
15. Arranging call-off hires, including taxis.
16. Maintaining vehicle and safety records.
17. Delivering training, assessments, and arranging driving tests.
18. Supervising drivers and Passenger Assistants, applying HR policies.
19. Managing overtime, expenses, and sickness documentation.
20. Updating staff rosters for optimal capacity.
21. Resolving service complaints and issues.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Previous supervisory experience.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
3. Knowledge of booking and scheduling systems.
4. Excellent customer service skills.
5. Ability to handle difficult situations with the public.
6. Strong time management skills.
7. Honest, trustworthy, punctual.
8. Problem-solving skills and flexibility.
9. Teamwork ability.
Desirable: A D1 driving license.
This role may require a PVG check.
