Brook Street Recruitment is delighted to assist our Belfast client with the recruitment of a Trainee Legal Secretary for their Litigation department.
The Role
This role reports to the Partners and will be responsible for supporting the fee earners with daily administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing documentation, including scanning, printing, e-filing, and updating fee earner files.
2. General administration tasks such as Mimecast, diary planning, booking meetings, managing emails, and opening/closing files.
3. Adhering to all manual and electronic filing systems.
4. Contacting Counsel, solicitors, and other parties on behalf of clients.
5. Dealing with telephone calls and assisting clients.
6. Researching and summarising legal information.
7. Preparing trial bundles and briefs for Counsel.
8. Issuing correspondence.
9. Transcribing from digital dictation.
10. Assisting relevant fee earners with file conduct as required.
11. Preparing legal documents for issue with the Court.
12. Billing.
Essential Criteria
1. At least 1 year's experience in a similar role.
2. Currently working in a busy legal role.
3. Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise work, and meet deadlines under time constraints.
4. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
5. Excellent knowledge of PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions.
Desirable Criteria
1. Audio-typing or secretarial qualification.
2. Experience in a professional services environment.
3. Knowledge of chronologies, especially medical notes.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
