Site Engineer Job Overview
* Manage daily site operations including coordinating labour, plant, and materials to meet project specifications and schedules for piling, soil mixing, and retaining structures.
* Ensure all works comply with technical drawings, specifications, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Risk Assessments (RAMS), permits, and safety protocols.
* Conduct site safety investigations and lead toolbox talks to promote a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to permit requirements.
* Prepare and deliver daily site briefings, update risk assessments, and record attendance.
* Oversee procurement activities by translating project needs into technical specifications, managing deliveries, and administering subcontractor agreements.
* Implement quality assurance procedures, including drafting ITPs, arranging tests, witnessing inspections, raising NCRs, and maintaining detailed QA documentation.
* Monitor productivity performance against rig and equipment targets, identify opportunities for process improvements, and report constraints to project managers.
* Supervise small teams and apprentices, providing constructive feedback, handling basic difficult conversations, and collaborating proactively across multidisciplinary teams.
* Maintain short-term work programmes, manage sequence logic, monitor progress, and perform delay and float analysis to support project timelines.
* Support commercial activities by raising and tracking Early Warnings (EWs) and Non-Compliance Events (NCEs), preparing inputs for variations, and aiding cost control efforts.
Site Engineer Job Requirements
* 2-5 years' experience in site or contracts engineering, ideally in ground engineering or civils.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
* Valid CSCS card; SSSTS or SMSTS certification preferred; First Aid certification advantageous.
* Strong technical knowledge of ground engineering methods including diaphragm walling, soil mixing, and piling using specialist equipment.
* Experience with project management software such as MS Project, P6, Excel (advanced), and AutoCAD (intermediate).
* Knowledge of NEC4 Contractual procedures, particularly in an alliance context, including delay analysis and change management.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and QA documentation with meticulous records discipline.
* Effective communicator with ownership mindset, resilient attitude, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

* Salary: £32,000 - £47,000 per annum.
