Overview
As an Environmental Project Engineer you will work closely with MBDA functions, sectors and Chief Engineers, including Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design and Proving teams. You will provide technical expertise in environmental requirements, support robust product designs and define and manage cost‑effective proving strategies throughout the product development cycle. You will contribute to environmental test programmes and act as a technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle from concept definition to in‑service support.
Our areas of expertise include: environmental requirement specification and management, proving methodologies, certification, project management, data analysis, simulation and modelling, and testing in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock) and fatigue environments. You will also interface with customers to plan, deliver and monitor work packages and make engineering decisions within your scope of responsibility to ensure projects are delivered to plan.
Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver and monitor assigned environmental work packages within own sphere of responsibility.
* Provide technical input for environmental requirement specification and management.
* Define proving methodologies, support certification activities and contribute to project management, data analysis, simulation and testing.
* Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design and Proving teams to define and deliver environmental test programmes.
* Interface with customers to communicate technical work packages and maintain integrity of engineering outputs.
* Contribute to achievement of delivery timescales and cost targets on complex technical projects.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience.
* Experience of planning, managing and delivering small to medium sized work packages.
* Knowledge of environmental engineering within the defence sector or relevant industry.
* Knowledge of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments and their applicability to different products at different life cycle stages.
* An understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation.
* Knowledge of international Environmental Standards (DEF STAN 00-035 / AECTP 300 / AECTP 400 / Mil-std 810 etc.).
* Analytical mindset and strong problem solving skills.
* Good verbal and written communication abilities and effective teamwork skills.
