About The Role
Forest Green Kitchen is a small team of conscientious, hard-working makers of healthy vegan foods served in schools, hospitals and visitor attractions across the UK.
It is an active role, working in a cool, temperature-controlled environment (PPE provided), involving some heavy lifting and the cleaning of our production equipment. It requires a strong attention to detail needed for accurate completion of paperwork, with clear handwriting and good numeracy, to ensure the safety and quality of our foods.
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety
* Take responsibility for your own health and safety by acting in a measured and considered way and ensuring also the safety of those around you.
* Support the design and development in the SWI and CC documents.
* Understand the risks associated with the area within which you work and the equipment that you work with.Ensure that you understand how to mitigate these risks and manage the behaviour of your staff to minimise the likelihood of harm.
* Ensure that you have been sufficiently trained in any procedure you are asked to undertake.
* Support the Management team in efforts to improve site safety by highlighting areas for improvement.
Product Quality & Food Safety
You must clearly understand the required standards that help minimise the risks to food safety.
These include:
* Temperature control (components are not left out of chiller/cold store when not in use/during breaks/stoppages etc).
* Ensuring no cross contamination between products.
* If you are in any doubt about requirements, it is your responsibility to ask/seek to understand from the Production Leads or Technicians or Production Manager.
You must ensure that the necessary standards are met, exceeded, and constantly improved upon. Where a problem occurs, you must inform the Production Manager immediately.
GENERAL DUTIES
* To follow all training and operating procedures as instructed by the company and to raise with a manager any changes to procedure that may be required.
* Understand our Quality Culture and contribute to maintaining exacting standards of quality, hygiene, health, and safety in line with BRCGS AA+ Grade Compliance
* Take ownership of any type of production activity, leading a small team to complete each task. Delegation autonomy to Senior Production Operatives, Production Operative
* Ensure you are trained on all Machinery to the required levels as set out by the Company.
* Make sure you are fully trained to ensure that the necessary paperwork to aid traceability and due diligence is completed accurately as required.
* Support the induction and welcoming of all new production staff, and their ongoing training and development to build strength in depth across the team.
* Ensure that the standards of cleanliness and housekeeping are within the guidelines laid down in the Company procedures – including completing all daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
* Report all accidents and take the necessary preventative action.
* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels.
* To be flexible within the role and to take on any other duties as and when required.
* Ensure you are fork-lift trained.
SPECIFIC DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
* Receipt and storage of in-bound deliveries
* Preparation of mixes (weighing, sorting ingredients)
* Assembly of vegan products
* Packing of vegan products
* Picking and dispatching of orders (including loading)
* Hygiene operations (equipment cleaning, waste management, facility cleaning)
Full time hours – Mon to Wed 07:00 to 17:00, Wed to Thurs 07:00 to 17:30
