STRUCTURAL ENGINEER needed in Manchester city centre
ELB Recruit is partnering with a well-established Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Consultancy to appoint a Structural Engineer for its growing Manchester office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer with 3+ years consultancy experience to advance their career within a respected, director-led practice delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, leisure and regeneration projects across the North West.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive team, working alongside experienced engineers on technically challenging projects from concept design through to construction.

Retail & Leisure Developments
Play a key role in the structural design of major leisure-led and mixed-use developments across Greater Manchester and Merseyside. Projects include large-span structures, complex building forms and high-footfall public facilities, requiring close collaboration with architects, developers and multidisciplinary design teams.
Residential Developments
Contribute to a wide range of residential schemes, including apartment developments, mixed-tenure housing and affordable housing projects for private developers and registered providers. Projects range from small infill sites through to large multi-phase developments.
Commercial & Industrial Projects
Gain exposure to commercial offices, industrial facilities, logistics developments and business parks across the North West. Work on both new-build and refurbishment schemes involving a variety of structural forms, materials and construction methods.
The Role
This position offers the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of high-profile developments while expanding your technical expertise across multiple sectors.
As a Structural Engineer, you will support the delivery of structural engineering solutions on multidisciplinary projects and work closely with senior engineers throughout the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of structural designs from concept through to detailed design.
* Produce structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and supporting documentation.
* Design structures in steel, concrete, masonry and timber in accordance with current standards and codes.
* Coordinate with civil, architectural, MEP and specialist disciplines to develop integrated engineering solutions.
* Support project delivery while maintaining quality, programme and commercial objectives.
* Participate in design reviews, technical discussions and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
* Liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
* Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections as required.
* Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* Progress towards increased project responsibility and professional development objectives.
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Approximately 3+ years experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
* Working towards Chartered status with IStructE or ICE.
* Experience designing building structures across a range of sectors.
* Good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and UK Building Regulations.
* Experience using structural analysis and design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Robot Structural Analysis, ETABS or similar.
* Understanding of construction methodologies and buildability considerations.
* Experience working within BIM environments; exposure to Revit would be advantageous.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
