About the Post
Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+ Equivalent) in Anaesthesia at Hammersmith Hospital. The post commences in February 2026 for six months in the first instance, extendable to one year subject to satisfactory assessments.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in the full range of anaesthetic subspecialties at Hammersmith Hospital under direct consultant supervision, with weekly theatre list allocations.
* Pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative care and postoperative management of theatre cases.
* Cover the registrar rota for theatres when on call, following a 1:8 rolling full‑shift pattern compliant with the European Working Time Directive and the 2016 junior doctor contract.
* Deliver weekly teaching in the anaesthetic department and via MS Teams, covering a cardiac focus and the FRCA examination syllabus; teaching is consultant‑supervised and trainee‑delivered.
* Lead or contribute to a monthly journal club.
* Participate in the clinical audit programme and clinical governance meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 21 months of anaesthetic experience required. Equivalent ST4+ level and ability to work under direct consultant supervision.
Teaching and Research Opportunities
Teaching includes weekly face‑to‑face sessions and virtual sessions via MS Teams. Research involves experimental studies and participation as Chief / Co‑Investigator in large multicentre trials covering topics such as anaesthesia for major general surgery, peri‑operative multi‑organ failure, postoperative pulmonary complications, acute kidney injury, patient blood management and sepsis.

Operational and Safety Requirements
