JOB TITLE - Mechanical Engineer LOCATION - Aldermaston DEPARTMENT - Engineering POSITION - Staff CLEARANCE - DV ​ ​ Working at NSG ​ NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. Please only apply if you are eligible to obtain DV clearance and are happy to go through the process. ​ ​ The Role ​ The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide technical knowledge, guidance and support to deliver projects, ensuring that all actions, activities and outputs underpin the integrity, expertise and competency of the company. ​ Key Objectives ​ Technical Competency ​ Technical Competence ​ Respond to client or colleague enquiries and take necessary actions to develop an effective engineering solution ​ Documentation, Assessments and Reports ​ Production of, but not limited to: ​ Concept, scheme and detailed design documentation Underpinning design calculations and analytical assessments Engineering reports Provision of relevant data, theory, formulae or standards to support design, manufacture, installation or equipment test ​ Self checking of all documentation prior to submitting for formal check and review ​ Project Delivery ​ Liaison and Support ​ Liaise with internal and group company colleagues to provide, but not limited to, the following: ​ Originate, prepare and deliver project documentation and engineering design deliverables Provide technical oversight to sub-contract packages of work Attend and contribute to engineering/project meetings Attend and participate in sub-contract/client design reviews Check and review engineering and project deliverables and outputs and provide constructive feedback Bid support Communicate effectively with all members ​ Person Specification ​ Qualifications ​ Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline - Essential Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - Desirable IOSH Managing Safely or formal H & S qualification - Relevant training will be provided if required ​ Experience & Knowledge ​ Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG - Essential Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry - Essential Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG - Desirable Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - Desirable Familiar with integrated management system operating procedures and requirements etc - Desirable ​ Skills & Abilities ​ Competent user of MS Office - Essential Ability to organise own work and effectively delivery under the guidance of a Project Manager - Essential Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery - Essential Ability to interpret and evaluate technical data - Essential Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors - Essential Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001 - Essential ​ ​ Package Hours - 37.5 hours per week Overtime – 37.5-60 hours per week – Time and half Overtime – 60 hours per week or Sundays – Double time Life Assurance 3x Salary Private Healthcare package Pension – Company contributes 5% Individual contributes 4% Discretionary bonus 187.5 hours per year holiday allowance Professional memberships covered Training and development opportunities available. ​ ​ NSG Environmental are a Disability Confident Committed Employer
