Applicants should meet the following criteria:
* Registered Nurse/Health Care Professional with NMC/HCPC Registration
* Teaching and assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998 (or equivalent)
* Specialist knowledge to a level defined for that hospital
* Able to apply specialist knowledge to risk assessment and support appropriate controls
* Maths, English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence
* Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems
Duties of this role include:
* Ensure Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is addressed hospital-wide and integrated into healthcare activities
* Take accountability for infection prevention in new business, build, and refurbishment projects
* Ensure compliance with the HCAI code (DH 2010) for CQC requirements in England and equivalent standards in Scotland and Wales
* Ensure environmental cleaning is sufficient and appropriate to the risk level in each hospital area, in partnership with housekeeping
* Provide advice on the purchase, introduction, and use of equipment related to IPC issues
* Support the waste management team, especially regarding clinical waste management
