We are seeking motivated individuals to undertake a full range of domestic duties. Full training will be provided to the successful candidates.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties, following set procedures and standards to provide and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the department. Duties include:
* General cleaning
* Isolation cleaning
* High and low dusting
* Wet and dry mopping
* Clean toilets, baths and washbasins
* Emptying clinical and general waste bins and placing bags in designated areas
* Scrubbing and buffing floors with mechanical machine
* Using chemicals and cleaning equipment responsibly and within health and safety guidelines
* Maintaining staff and public safety through appropriate use of warning signage whilst cleaning
* Where required, undertake Bioquell Q50-HPV decontamination duties and be fully compliant with all methods and responsibilities of using this system

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high standards of cleaning within the areas at SSDU. Responsibilities include:
* Clean specific areas in line with Trust policy and National Cleaning Standards
* Provide a cleaning service in accordance with approved methods, standards and frequencies
* Use cleaning equipment, machinery and cleaning materials as trained; report defects to the supervisor
* Where required, undertake Bioquell Q50-HPV decontamination duties and comply with all methods and responsibilities
* Adopt a flexible approach to domestic duties
Person specification
Knowledge
* Understanding the importance of cleaning within a hospital environment
* Knowledge of using electrical cleaning equipment (vacuum, steam cleaner, buffer, floor scrubber-dryer, carpet cleaner)
* Understanding of infection control precautions (hand washing, colour coding, PPE, hygiene)
* Understanding of safe usage of chemicals (COSHH) and Health & Safety
Skills
* Basic literacy and numeracy
* Knowledge/understanding of cleaning and domestic assistant role
* Effective communication with a range of people
* Ability to organise and prioritise day-to-day tasks
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet service needs (e.g., area changes, working Bank Holidays)
* Ability to use cleaning equipment, move beds to facilitate cleaning, handle refuse sacks, stand for long periods
* Basic IT skills for Trust e-learning and booking annual leave
Experience
* Experience of cleaning within a healthcare environment
* Experience of working with the public/customers
Qualifications
* No formal qualifications are required; induction and on-the-job training will be provided (infection control, COSHH, national cleaning standards, use of cleaning equipment/machinery, manual handling)
* NVQ Level 1 & 2 or other recognised cleaning qualifications

* Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to the role
