We are seeking to recruit a new school business manager who will thrive working in a busy, stimulating school environment and who will share our vision of a dynamic and positive school culture where all staff and children feel valued and part of a team. The School Business Manager is a pivotal role in school strategic leadership; therefore, we are looking to appoint a dedicated and dynamic candidate. The role is diverse and requires someone who is able to manage a wide range of tasks and their time effectively. The successful candidate will not only be an exceptionally organised and efficient individual with high expectations, but also a strategic thinker who is flexible, resilient and maintains a positive ‘can-do’ outlook. The successful candidate will support the Headteacher, Governors and Leadership Team in the strategic and operational running of the school through key responsibilities including: Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the school office and of the school’s financial, administration, personnel, premises, business and support services. Organising, maintaining and monitoring the school’s financial and personnel systems effectively and to a high standard. Giving advice on budgetary matters and financial accounting to the Headteacher, Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team by meeting with them on a regular basis; providing an overview of key issues relating to financial, administration, premises, business and support service matters including identifying priorities and contributing to strategic planning. Ensuring the school makes the best possible use of resources through effective forward planning and financial consideration. Managing all HR issues and support the HT in all aspects of safer recruitment. Overseeing the Site Maintenance Officer on the upkeep and development of the site and associated Health and Safety issues. Attending governor meetings to report on school finance and business. This role is key in ensuring our resources and finances are managed effectively by strategically planning and managing the school’s delegated budget. The successful candidate will have: Sound business management skills, a keen eye for accurate financing and astute commercial acumen, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. School Business Manager or financial management qualifications would be advantageous to this role. Confidence and experience in financial management and budget setting. Strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills (to GCSE level minimum expectation / higher qualifications would be an advantage). Experience of working in a school office and managing databases. Experience in using a school MIS system, Unit4 and Schools Finance packages advantageous. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present both written, and verbal information/reports and act in an advisory capacity for the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governors. A proven track record of managing and liaising with people positively and effectively. A genuine desire to involve yourself fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals.
