CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ have secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme. The Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water delivers work on water supply and wastewater treatment projects in the eastern half of the region (Kent & Sussex). Between 2025-2030 CMDP+ will deliver critical investment to Water and Wastewater infrastructure across the region, including upgrades to Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs.
Purpose Of The Role
To develop the skills required to enable you to become responsible for key elements of work on a project, taking a significant role in mechanical engineering and technical delivery while also managing aspects of time, cost and quality. You will acquire technical, leadership and project management skills and experience.
Graduate Development Programme
The programme focuses on growing your personal and leadership skills alongside business and technical knowledge gained day‑to‑day. Delivered in a variety of formats over two years, it establishes a network of contacts that supports you during the first two years and beyond. Graduates may rotate after 8‑12 months to another project sector to understand the breadth of our services. Line managers support the programme and you will receive mentoring and a structured training package to work towards Chartership.
Responsibilities
* Manage site operations, ensuring safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production and customer satisfaction, including planning and sequencing of operations.
* Write method statements and risk assessments.
* Support procurement of sub‑contractors, labour, plant and material resources.
* Provide team briefings covering operational requirements and performance updates.
* Implement quality control and QA processes to meet regulatory requirements.
* Commercial and contract management.
* Support design development and design management.
* Provide scope and growth development proposals and work‑winning support.
Qualifications
* Full UK Drivers Licence.
* Passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets.
* A willingness to learn with appropriate instruction.
* Excel at building and maintaining positive relationships.
* The ability to thrive in pressured situations.
* Excellent organisation, communication and time‑management skills.
* Mobility to work on various projects over the 2‑year programme throughout the UK.
* Will require passport and/or right‑to‑work documentation at interview.
* Ability to travel to remote project sites as required.
Desired Education
Applicants should have or be on track to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline, at grade 2:2 or above.
Compensation and Working Hours
Salary: £44,000 – £46,000 per annum, plus overtime (paid at x1.5 & x2.0) and opportunities. Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6 am onwards.
