Occupational Therapist (Community Mental Health & Learning Disabilities)
Salary: Up to £37,000 + £2,400 car allowance
Location: Home based delivering in the community throughout the West Midlands
Working Hours: 9am to 5pm, on call every 5 weeks

Introduction to the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing clinical team, we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a desire to make a difference in the lives of the people we support. This role will allow you work holistically and focus on more than purely the basic needs of the people we support; you will be able to work collaboratively to set and work towards meaningful short, medium and long-term goals in all aspects of daily life throughout the entire journey with Gray Healthcare.
As a Band 5 equivalent Occupational Therapist working within Gray Health Care, you will be joining our growing Multidisciplinary Team, working alongside Occupational Therapists, RMNs, RNLDs, a Psychologically Informed Therapist and Operational Service Managers.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to put into practice your current skills in addition to developing yourself as an autonomous practitioner.
You will be part of a growing team providing evidence-based assessment and intervention to people with complex needs who are supported to live a meaningful life in their own homes.
Gray Healthcare’s Model is underpinned by Positive Behaviour Support and as such, you will be expected to work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the provision of robust, positive and evidence-based support.
Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist (Community Mental Health & Learning Disabilities):
Completion of holistic Occupational Therapy Assessment using the MOHOST, Screening Tools and Activity Analysis
Setting goals and planning interventions with the people we support and their team.
Delivering creative interventions using evidence-based practices and approaches
Evaluate the efficacy of interventions
Carry a caseload of approximately 15 people.
Assessment and Intervention outcomes need to effectively contribute to MDT discussion with the view to promote collaborative working towards meaningful engagement and improved quality of life.
Evidencing therapeutic input by providing statistics relating to caseload
Manage own time and priorities under the supervision of the Head of Rehabilitation
Act as a specialist clinical resource and demonstrate good leadership skills
Take a solution focussed approach to mitigating risk of occupational deprivation
Facilitating workshops and group discussions using appropriate delivery methods
Work within CQC regulated activities and in line with MCA, Safeguarding and Code of Conduct policy and procedure.

A commitment to undertake continuous training and professional development
The ability to travel and occasional overnight stays (car allowance and expenses paid)

Provide clinical advice, guidance and support
Work within a team that promotes positive risk taking
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care plans and risk assessments
Coach and guide support staff to provide robust and evidence-based intervention with an emphasis on skill building
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, the individuals we support and their families
Promote Co-Production initiatives

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience of the Occupational Therapist (Community Mental Health & Learning Disabilities):
Degree in Occupational Therapy
HCPC Registered
Evidence of relevant experience relating to Mental Health, Learning Disability, Complex Needs, Autism and / or Acquired Brain Injury
Minimum of on year post qualification experience
Good assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills.
Evidence of CPD
Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including use of Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel and outlook.
Ability to demonstrate efficient and effective self-management including use of time, organisation, planning and problem solving.
Ability to use own initiative but ask for assistance where appropriate.
Able to use self-reflection to improve clinical skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
To be empathetic and passionate in working with clients with complex needs

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience of the Occupational Therapist (Community Mental Health & Learning Disabilities):
A working knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support Model and how this enhances quality of life
Experience working with the Model of Human Occupation
The ability to work collaboratively with others, this will include the Learning and Development Team, Clinical Team, Operations Team and Quality Team
An understanding of behaviours perceived as challenging and the ability to use this in supporting staff to be solution focussed.
Experience working with electronic care planning programmes
Good administration and organisational skills
