You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A Little More About Your Role…

Project Management, Commercial and Technical Advisory (PMCM) team in Sheffield is seeking a Project Manager / Technical Advisor to support the delivery of projects under the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme (SRP). This role is ideal for a Project Manager who wishes to develop a career within the education sector, with a clear pathway for progression to Senior Project Manager. You will act as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent, managing projects through RIBA Stages 2–6 and working directly with DfE Project Managers and Project Directors. The position is highly client‑facing, with responsibility for leading and attending regular meetings, feasibility reviews, gateway meetings, and wider stakeholder forums. You will play a key role in shaping projects from early feasibility stage, supported by an experienced Sheffield‑based team and a strong framework knowledge base.

Key Responsibilities

* Promote a strong culture of health, safety, quality and sustainability, aligned with WSP’s guiding principles and the requirements of the DfE.
* Act as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent on DfE SRP projects, representing the client’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.
* Manage projects through RIBA Stages 2–6, from feasibility and design through to construction and handover.
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary design teams, ensuring delivery aligns with project brief, programme, budget and statutory requirements.
* Lead client‑facing meetings, including KIT calls, feasibility reviews, gateway meetings and construction progress meetings.
* Collaborate with WSP Quantity Surveyor across all stages, managing change control, variations, cost reporting and risk allowances.
* Oversee feasibility development, option appraisal and project strategy definition.
* Work with JCT Design & Build 2016 and 2024 forms of contract.
* Ensure compliance with WSP governance procedures and client requirements.

What We Will Be Looking For

* Project management experience within the built environment, ideally working on construction, refurbishment or public‑sector projects.
* Experience within the education sector or on DfE projects (desirable but not essential).
* Confidence in a client‑facing role, leading meetings and representing the client’s interests.
* Experience as an Employer’s Agent (advantageous).
* Working knowledge of JCT Design & Build contracts and their practical application.
* Understanding of project management fundamentals, including programme, cost, risk and stakeholder management.
* Ability to work within a multi‑disciplinary team, coordinating closely with commercial and technical specialists.
* Competent user of Microsoft 365 and project controls tools (e.g. MS Project); familiarity with digital and AI‑enabled tools (e.g. MS Copilot) is advantageous.

Qualifications & Professional Development

* Working towards or holding a relevant professional accreditation, such as:
* MRICS / AssocRICS
* MCIOB
* MAPM / ChPP
* Commitment to professional development, training and accreditation, with mentoring from experienced colleagues across the SRP framework.

Location & Working Pattern

The role will be based in WSP’s Sheffield office, with hybrid working arrangements. Attendance at the office or site as and when necessary, typically for progress meetings and inspections during the construction phase. This is not a site‑based role.
