Position
We are looking to recruit a Project Design Engineer to join our Gas Transmission/Distribution Networks design team. The successful candidate will join an established team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to acquire a broad range of skills and experience in design and project management.
The role will provide you with essential engineering, communications and project delivery skills which are transferrable across any engineering project.
The location for this role will be in our Hemel Hempstead office.
The initial role will include:
* Design & Project Coordination from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Gas network sector in areas such as: New build AGI and PRI and Capacity Upgrades, Renewable Gas (Biogas, Biomethane and Hydrogen), Tx/Dx Pipelines and pipeline Diversions and Design of upgrade works across gas distribution networks
* Innovation and Development projects in the areas of Hydrogen and Biomethane
* Work within a design team including Mechanical, Civil, E&I, CP and drafting team members
* Design from first principles and development of Design Drawings and specifications as well as Conceptual, Preliminary and Detailed Design Reports
* Surveying of natural gas installations
* Liaising with local authorities, clients and other stakeholders
* Presentation of design solutions to client
* Attend and participate in HAZID/ HAZOP and LOPA studies
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
* Engineering degree (Bachelor Honours degree or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar discipline.
* 4+ years post‑graduate experience.
* Experience in the Gas Industry
* Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Good academic record
* Full clean driving license and own transport required
* Fluent written and spoken English is essential
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
