We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the small but mighty team at the Wattenden Arms. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a positive work environment. This is a Thurs-Sun role with some holiday cover. Single room accommodation is available if required.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef
* Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation
* Oversee food production to ensure consistency and quality
* Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
* Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
* Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and procedures
* Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes
* Support the Head Chef in administrative tasks such as scheduling and budgeting
Skills
* Strong background in hospitality and restaurant industry
* Proficient in various cooking techniques and food production processes
* Team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff
* Exceptional leadership qualities to inspire culinary excellence
* Extensive knowledge of food preparation and culinary best practices
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
* Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
