Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? Do you have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities in a nurturing school environment?
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicatedHLTAto join a well-established SEND school. The school supports learners with a variety of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering planned lessons and interventions, both independently and in collaboration with teachers
* Supporting pupils with a wide range of SEND needs, including 1:1 and small group support
* Leading activities to help pupils develop independence, confidence, and social skills
* Managing behaviour using calm, consistent, and positive strategies
* Assisting with personal care where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
* Contributing to planning, assessment, and record keeping to monitor pupil progress
* Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals to support holistic pupil development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Significant experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant within a SEND setting
* Strong understanding of SEND and associated strategies to support learning and behaviour
* Confidence delivering lessons and interventions independently
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Experience with communication aids such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables is highly desirable
* Relevant training such as safeguarding, Team Teach, or ASD awareness
Requirements:
* Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* Right to work in the UK
* HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
