An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Mental Health Assistant Practitioner to be based within the Community Mental Health Team in Islay.

The role is to support our Multi-disciplinary team to provide targeted support to people with moderate to severe mental health problems under the supervision of mental health professionals within the team. You will be instrumental in the delivery of therapeutic intervention required by General Adult and Older Adult client groups in their treatment and rehabilitation.

You will also work closely with Occupational Therapy in developing and delivering structured interventions within groups and 1:1 to meet client and service needs.

The post holder will be required to work to a specific plan of care for service users and to contribute to initiating, developing and reviewing the care plan. You will work within a recovery model, utilising a person-centred approach in order to work towards maximising independence for all service users. The work is interesting and varied and will include working with individuals in their own homes and the community and may include in reach to support Discharge Planning and Transition.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and be able to demonstrate a person-centred and outcome focused approach. The post would suit someone who has experience or an interest in working within Mental Health care.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
