General Workshop Assistant

* Starting Salary: From £12.50 per hour, depending on experience
Reed Engineering are working with a long established local company who are seeking a proactive and skilled General Workshop Assistant to join their team in a dynamic fabrication workshop. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational knowledge of metalworking and a keen interest in developing further skills in a hands-on environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Assist main fabricators in preparing materials for welding, including using metal saws and drills.
* Finish fabrications by spraying and fettling galvanized work, ensuring they are ready for delivery.
* Receive full training to operate a Forklift Truck to unload steel delivery lorries on site.
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment to support efficient operations and safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Some basic metalworking skills and familiarity with a fabrication workshop environment.
* Experience with basic hand tools and power tools.
* Full UK Driving License is essential due to location of premises.
* Willingness to undergo training for Forklift Truck operation.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong awareness of health and safety practices.
