Senior Mechanical Engineer - Global Specialty Chemicals Manufacturer Location: Eccles, Manchester (on-site, 5 days per week) Salary: up to £60,000 benefits We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a world-leading manufacturer of specialty chemical additives and precursors. You will be responsible for: Providing mechanical engineering expertise to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment. Leading or supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities across mechanical assets. Managing mechanical projects from design through to procurement, installation, and commissioning of new equipment. Participating in HAZOP studies to identify risks and implement effective mitigation measures. Investigating mechanical failures, conduct root cause analysis, and develop long-term solutions. Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Driving continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on reliability, availability, and cost efficiency of assets. Collaborating with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver projects and maintenance safely and effectively.About You: Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND with strong experience will be considered). Proven track record in engineering and maintenance within chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical plants (COMAH experience preferred). Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pressure systems, and piping. Experience managing inspection and installation programmes under PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, and PED. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
