Network Engineer – WAN
Location: Basingstoke
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for SC clearance
Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience
We are currently supporting the recruitment of Site WAN Architects for a confidential client delivering secure infrastructure within the Defence and National Security sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a network engineer to be part of a collaborative, skilled team delivering cutting-edge network solutions.
Role Overview:
As a Site WAN Architect, you will:
• Design and deliver medium to large-scale secure network solutions.
• Lead technical design work, ensuring compliance with project and security standards.
• Produce high-quality design documentation and contribute to technical governance.
• Support project management teams in achieving timely, successful delivery.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Network Engineer with a strong background in WAN and secure systems delivery, or for someone looking to transition into a more architecture-focused role.
Key Experience Required:
• Proven ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable network solutions.
• Design experience with technologies from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA).
• Understanding of LAN, WAN, WiFi, VPN, Voice, Video, and Cyber Security technologies.
• Full project lifecycle knowledge, from requirements gathering through to operational deployment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in Defence environments is advantageous but not essential.
Security Clearance: This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain SC (Security Check) clearance.
