The Opportunity
Due to continued growth across the construction sector, we are seeking an Estimator to join our expanding Pre-Construction Team at our Head Office in Bradford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction estimator to play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, developing tenders, and supporting the successful delivery of major civil engineering and construction projects.
You’ll be involved in every stage of the pre-construction process—from initial enquiry to bid submission—contributing to business development, value engineering, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using first principles pricing.
* Tender Preparation: Develop tender programmes and coordinate submissions.
* Bills of Quantities: Take off measurements and extract details from drawings and specifications.
* Adjudication Meetings: Attend pre-bid review meetings with the Commercial Partner.
* Supply Chain Management: Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations.
* Value Engineering: Support cost-effective design solutions and risk mitigation.
* Client Relations: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and designers.
* Meetings & Site Visits: Represent Stainforth Construction at internal, client, and site meetings.

What You’ll Bring
* Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Construction or a related field.
* Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction sector.
* Strong understanding of first principles pricing and SMM7 measurement methods.
* Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., ConQuest) and MS Office (including Project).
* Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
