We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Secure Mental Health) to join our amazing team based in Gloucester. We are looking for enthusiastic, care focused individuals to join our Safe Care Division (Secure Mental Health). Your main responsibility will be supporting the police and other professionals with transporting service users to and from healthcare facilities. This will be carried out as a three‑person team, so it is vital to hold a full UK driving licence. Full training will be provided for this rewarding role. This is a Full‑Time position working four shifts on four off, covering all seven days of the week on twelve‑hour shifts. We are a 24‑hour base and you must be able to work all shifts, including night shifts (please only apply if you can commit to these hours).

Main Duties
* Work as part of a team to support the service user on board
* Take responsibility for ensuring the vehicle is safely and responsibly driven
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses
* Support challenging service users who may need physical intervention
* Work alongside the police and other professionals to transport vulnerable service users between hospitals, homes and prisons to medical/care settings including A&E, outpatients and hospital wards
* Liaise with hospital staff and the police on the safe conveyance of the service user to and from places of safety
* Be responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the ambulance
* Hand over service users to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres or hospitals
* Transfer service users from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights
* Ensure that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy
Successful Candidates Will Have
* Full manual UK driving licence
* Commitment to patient care and the ability to build rapport with patients
* Effective communication skills, especially in emotional and difficult circumstances
* A calm, considerate, careful driver with no more than six penalty points on the licence
* A natural flair for teamwork and collaboration
* Physical fitness for patient handling, moving and occasional restraint when required
* Ability to problem‑solve and identify key changes in patients’ behaviour while working in demanding situations
