 
        
        About the Role
We are currently looking for enthusiastic Ambulance Care Assistants to transport patients who are frail or require specialist assistance to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other facilities.
Key Responsibilities
 * Transport patients to and from hospitals, treatment centres and other facilities.
 * Attend a 3‑week paid training course comprising 15 full‑time working days, during which you will be clinically trained to the standards required of a ‘First Person on Scene’, receive patient transport driver training and a full uniform.
 * Commit to attending the training course in full; accommodation and travel expenses will not be provided, so you must arrange your own travel to venues such as Welwyn Garden City and Chelmsford.
 * Work in a team of two or independently in various vehicle types across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
 * Provide 24‑hour, year‑round urgent care and non‑emergency transport as part of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Working Conditions
Following the training, you will join the service as an Ambulance Care Assistant. The PTS contract in North Essex will be awarded to a private ambulance provider (HTG) from April 2026, making this role eligible to TUPE to the new provider under NHS terms and conditions.
