About the role
SEND Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver 1:1 and small group classroom support tailored to individual learning needs.
2. Provide compassionate assistance with personal care and moving & handling, including hoisting where required.
3. Support children with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs, remaining calm and consistent during behavioural episodes.
4. Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and supported.
5. Promote life skills, independence and emotional regulation.
6. Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans.

What We’re Looking For in a SEND Teaching Assistant:
13. You MUST drive and have access to your own vehicle.
14. Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH.
15. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
16. Familiarity with needs such as ASD, SLD, PMLD, and challenging behaviours.
17. Comfortable with personal care and manual handling (training provided if needed).
18. Ability to support learning both 1:1 and in small groups.
19. Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
20. A team player who’s open to learning and continuous professional development.

Salary
£445-£470 per week
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
