Financial Controller
Save the Sash Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of sash windows and bespoke joinery, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern efficiency. Operating from our rural site just outside Maidenhead, we deliver high-quality products to a growing customer base and are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen our financial management.
The Role
We are looking to appoint a permanent Financial Controller, either:
* Full-time (40 hours per week), or
* 32 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This is a standalone, hands-on role with full responsibility for the finance function. You will work closely with the Managing Director and operational team to improve financial visibility, tighten controls, actively manage cash flow in a project-driven manufacturing environment.
Our business is evolving. Processes are being strengthened, reporting requires consistency, and financial discipline must be maintained. There will be competing priorities, incomplete information at times, and deadline pressure. You must be comfortable operating effectively in this environment without becoming flustered.
Key Responsibilities
* Full management of Purchase Ledger, including fortnightly payment runs
* Full management of Sales Ledger, including raising invoices and credit control
* Bank and credit card reconciliations
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns
* Calculation of accruals and prepayments
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Monthly payroll processing, including pension administration
* Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts
* Working closely with operations to ensure invoicing aligns with manufacturing progress
* Liaising with clients to request project funding
* Providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to the Managing Director
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience within an SME environment, ideally manufacturing or construction
* Qualified, part-qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or QBE with strong practical experience
* Strong IT capability, particularly Microsoft Excel
* Confident user of Outlook and Word
* Sage experience desirable
* Able to manage all financial transactions with accuracy and attention to detail
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
* Comfortable dealing with customers by phone when required
* Excellent written and spoken English
Location
We are based in a rural setting just outside Maidenhead, with open countryside views and on-site parking. Due to the location, you must live within a reasonable commuting distance and have your own transport.
