SEN Teaching Assistant - Challenging Behaviour Support - ASAP Start. Central Bristol. There is an exciting opportunity to secure a 1 year contract at an 'Outstanding' two form entry mainstream primary school based in Bristol. This is a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant opportunity. The school are looking for someone to support a small cohort of children who display challenging behaviour and have social, emotional mental health needs. A one year contract is on offer. Experience with SEMH, ASD, Team Teach training, ADHD and a teaching assistant with experience in a similar position is suitable for this role. The position begins ASAP. The Primary school would ideally like to meet candidates who have a degree and who have some experience working with Special Educational Needs e.g. Autism, ADHD, dyslexia. The children can present challenging behaviour so will require someone with confidence and experience to control and calm this. This role will entail a variety of responsibilities and will offer excellent experience for the teaching assistant appointed. Minimum standards will include Maths and English at GCSE graded C or above. Team teach training would be very desirable for this role! This role is a fantastic platform for aspiring teachers to gain valuable experience in preparation for completing their teacher training the following year. This is a teacher training school meaning that successful TAs can consequently be enrolled on to the School's Direct Teacher Training Programme in September 2025. Responsibilities
* Support SEND children within classes and their individual needs. The needs include ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, global delay, SEMH, physical and behavioural challenges. Experience working with one or more of these is ideal for this role.
* Help create a calm, positive learning environment and assist with behaviour management and learning activities.
* Work with teaching staff to support learning and progress for children with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and other SEND.
* There is potential to participate in the School's Direct Teacher Training Programme in September 2025 as part of career progression.
Qualifications
* A degree and open to candidates with some experience of Special Educational Needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, dyslexia).
* Experience with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or related needs is preferred.
* GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above.
* Team Teach training would be desirable.
