Join to apply for the Senior / Principal Consultant (Transport Policy Monitoring & Evaluation) role at WSP.

Overview

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

At WSP you’ll find opportunities to make the most of your expertise, work with deep technical experts across multiple sectors, and help develop and grow a crucial area of WSP business – transport policy monitoring and evaluation.

Your Role

WSP’s Intelligent Infrastructure discipline works with a range of clients in transport and beyond. The transport system’s goals remain to move people and goods efficiently, while drivers continually evolve around carbon reduction, resilience, safety, security, digitisation, customer needs, and value for money. You will help design monitoring and evaluation plans that provide evidence of “what works?” and an understanding of “why?” to inform the operation and evolution of the UK transport system. In the Operations and Safety team, you will work with senior experts and other specialists across WSP to deliver a tailored monitoring and evaluation offering for clients and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects at central and local government levels.

Responsibilities

* Deliver multi-discipline monitoring and evaluation projects, including assessing evaluability, scoping and designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, delivering evaluations of local and national transport policies, and turning insights into learning and action.
* Provide expert monitoring and evaluation advice to clients to help them deliver objectives and optimise benefits.
* Collaborate with experts across other WSP teams to bring in the skills needed for project success.
* Contribute to the growth of the Monitoring and Evaluation capability within the team to support its ambitions.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

* Proven technical capability in the design and execution of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for policies, programmes, or projects, including impact and process evaluation design.
* Understanding of and experience with evaluation methods including quasi-experimental and theory-based approaches.
* Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills (statistical, economic or social research) with experience delivering robust mixed-method analyses.
* Experience applying government guidance on monitoring and evaluation (e.g., HM Treasury Magenta/Green Books, Department for Transport Transport Appraisal Guidance).
* Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical insights to a wide range of audiences, building engagement and buy-in.
* A passion for evidence-informed decision-making and robust evidence.
* A proven track record of working with government, research and commercial partners.
