Salary – NJC National Pay scale-Station Manager: £50,135 per annum (Development) to £55,301 per annum (Competent B)

Every role in Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, including those in the shared service, exists to support the overall aim of achieving a safer and more sustainable community. This can take many forms, including conducting Home Fire Risk Checks, marketing the service to the community, coordinating training, or taking calls in our contact centre.

We are seeking experienced leaders to join Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as Station Managers. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for managing operational delivery, driving performance, and ensuring the safety and resilience of our communities and our Crews.

Key Responsibilities

As a Station Manager, you will:

1. Lead, monitor, and support teams to resolve operational incidents effectively.
2. Oversee inspections and investigations, ensuring hazards and risks are identified and mitigated.
3. Plan and implement activities to meet Service delivery needs, including resource allocation and budget management.
4. Manage team and individual performance, providing feedback and resolving issues.
5. Develop teams and individuals to enhance work-based performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
6. Maintain situational awareness and apply problem-solving skills to make informed decisions.

This position demands exceptional leadership, clear and confident communication, and a collaborative approach when working across the Service and with external partners.

As a key leader, you will need to ensure that the Core Code of Ethics is integral to everything that you do and play a critical role in driving operational excellence and delivering high performance throughout the Service. Your responsibilities will encompass strategic planning, effective resource management, and incident command, ensuring the safety of our communities while empowering and supporting our teams.

Eligibility Criteria

This process is open to wholetime substantive competent Crew Managers and wholetime substantive in development or competent Watch Managers.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant operational experience and leadership capability. Successful candidates will be required to undertake any necessary training for the role.
