Head of Finance
Location: Stroud (hybrid-based with occasional travel to other sites)
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Our client, a leading charity focused on social justice, recovery and community support, is hiring a Head of Finance.
With an income of around c£15m, largely delivered through multi-year contracts, this is a key leadership role to strengthen financial control, governance, financial planning and business partnering. You’ll ensure robust management information, clear insight and strong financial stewardship to support long-term sustainability.
What you’ll do
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans
Deliver financial planning, including scenario modelling and supporting strategic decision-making
Review management accounts, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear narrative and recommendations
Act as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders and budget holders, providing challenge and support
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, treasury, and cash flow management
Ensure timely and accurate management accounts, variance analysis, KPIs and board reporting
Coordinate statutory accounts preparation and the external audit process
You’ll work closely with senior leadership, operational teams and service leads to drive financial understanding, accountability and sustainability across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Charity / not-for-profit experience is essential (must-have)
Experience in a financial management role within a small or medium-sized organisation
Proven line management experience, ideally leading and developing a junior or early-career finance team
Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and risk identification
Confident business partnering and stakeholder management skills, able to influence non-finance colleagues
Solid IT skills, particularly with accounting software and Excel, plus experience improving finance processes or systems

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working with a wide range of stakeholders
Highly discreet, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and governance
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with a willingness to travel occasionally between sites, is required
