Site Engineer Civils (Enabling Works) - Inverness at Wood
Due to rapid growth at Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd, we are seeking Civils biased Site Engineers with experience of Access and Enabling Works for an Overhead Lines Project in the Inverness area, Scotland. This is a full-time site-based role, supporting the Construction Manager (Access and Enabling Works).
The Role
Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, you will be part of the Enabling Works and Access Roads team, coordinating foremen and sub-contractors, liaising with clients and third parties, and managing the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL). You will focus on enabling works prior to tower assembly and erection, contribute to increasing network capacity to deliver the UK government pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero.
This role is suitable for someone seeking a sideways move or the next step as a Site Engineer. Applications are welcome from established site engineers and those new to the role from civils or OHL backgrounds within transmission and distribution, construction or utilities.
Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day Health & Safety for staff and subcontractors; report safety incidents and near misses.
* Plan, coordinate, and manage foremen and subcontractors; assist the Construction Manager in checking staff competencies and training.
* Control costs and monitor the financial status of your project area where applicable.
* Produce method statements, work instructions, and risk assessments.
* Provide the Construction and Project Managers with information for monthly reports and project change control.
* Plan and coordinate resources (plant, materials, labour).
* Determine material requirements and liaise with Procurement.
* Liaise with clients, third parties, and stakeholders.
* Collect and collate QA documentation for final records.
* Support the Site Construction Manager in developing target costs.
* Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 14001:2004 standards.
Qualifications
* Demonstrable industry experience in a similar role.
* Possess a recognised Safety Qualification (such as IOSH or NEBOSH).
* Experience in management of sub-contractors and recording measurement details for financial settlement.
* Supervisory experience of technical aspects of construction, access and accommodation works, traffic management, scaffolding, metal access roads, welfare facilities, foundations, conductor and fitting replacement works (desirable).
* Willingness to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods.
* Experience with enabling, access roads and foundation construction in power transmission projects.
* Proven coordination with third parties (local councils, highway authorities, environment agencies, etc.).
