TUH provides specialist care across the entire northern region and is located adjacent to James Cook University (JCU), with strong academic links.
We are seeking a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist to join our established subspecialist service, delivering tertiary care in endocrinology and diabetes to children and young people across northern Queensland.
About the Role Clinical Care Provide specialist clinics in general endocrinology and diabetes, including outreach and telehealth support to Mackay and North West Hospital and Health Services.
Support tertiary Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, alongside paediatric surgery, oncology, and other subspecialties.
Deliver dynamic endocrine testing in the paediatric day unit using standardised protocols.
Service Leadership Lead the tertiary paediatric diabetes service, supported by a multidisciplinary team (nurse practitioner, nurse educator, general paediatrician, and registrar).
Contribute to adolescent and young adult diabetes clinics, with future plans for prediabetes screening.
Provide acute retrieval support for diabetes across northern Queensland.
Education & Research Teach and supervise junior doctors and RACP paediatric trainees, with a new registrar post in paediatric endocrinology commencing in 2026.
Engage in research with TUH and JCU, with opportunities to expand the portfolio in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes.
What's on offer? Permanent part-time position (64 hours per fortnight).
Remuneration package up to AUD $536,916 p.a.
(full-time equivalent; actual earnings pro-rated to 64 hours per fortnight) Approx £280,000 FTE.

Requirements Eligible for registration as a Paediatric Specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatrics with Paediatric Endocrinology, or overseas equivalent.
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and and inclusion on the Specialist Register in Paediatrics (or eligibility for entry).
Demonstrated subspecialty expertise in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.
Dual training in general paediatrics is desirable but not essential.
Commitment to collaborative, patient-centred practice and outreach service delivery.
