3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• SEND Caseworker (Social Care Qualified) required for a 12-week temporary contract with Liverpool City Council, within Children & Young People’s Services – Education.
• This role will support schools, settings, and families in delivering the graduated approach for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• The successful candidate will coordinate the statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and planning process, ensuring compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated legislation.
• The post requires approximately two days per week on site in Liverpool, with the remainder remote.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Coordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND.
• Manage the Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning process from assessment through to placement and annual review.
• Ensure all statutory timescales are met in line with legislation.
• Support schools and settings in applying the graduated approach to meeting SEND needs.
• Develop strong working relationships with SENCos, Head Teachers and educational settings.
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Children’s and Adult Social Care, and Health services.
• Facilitate and attend annual review meetings, particularly for vulnerable pupils (e.g. Looked After Children, Continuing Care, pupils at risk of exclusion).
• Monitor and review progress against agreed outcomes within EHC Plans.
• Ensure children, young people and parents/carers are central to all planning and decision-making.
• Promote inclusion and support pupils to remain in maintained settings within Liverpool wherever possible.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with statutory and local authority requirements.

Skills/Experience:
• Recent experience within an Education or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Caseworker
• Strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, including SENDIST regulations
• Experience managing the full EHC statutory assessment process
• Experience facilitating review meetings and multi-agency meetings
• Strong partnership working experience across education, health and social care
• Experience working closely with parents and carers
• Ability to manage a caseload and meet strict statutory deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong report writing and documentation skills
• High level IT competency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel – complex spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-agency team.

Additional Information:
• The closing date: 06/03/2026.
• Location: Conleach Road, Liverpool, Merseyside, L24 0TY.
• Contract Length: 12 weeks.
• Hours: 35 hours per week.
• £40.88 per hour Limited/Umbrella.
• Work Pattern: Minimum 2 days per week on site.
