SEN Science Lead
Location: Mansfield (with travel across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire)
Salary: M1 to M6 depending on skills and experience (£32,916 to £45,352 per annum)
Contract: PermanentHours: 40 hours per week, term time only
About the Role
We work with children and young people aged 7 to 19, providing creative and personalised education for those who may be “lost to learning” or “hard to place”. Our approach offers flexibility and tailored pathways to help learners succeed beyond the traditional classroom setting.
We are seeking an ambitious Science Lead to develop and drive a clear vision for science education, ensuring consistently high-quality teaching and outcomes for learners across multiple settings. Teaching is delivered through one-to-one sessions, small groups and larger vocational environments, enabling truly personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
As the Science specialist, you will:
* Lead and develop a diverse and engaging science curriculum
* Champion high-quality teaching and learning across the organisation
* Support colleagues through coaching, CPD and targeted interventions
* Work alongside senior leaders to carry out quality assurance activities
* Identify strengths and areas for development to drive continuous improvement
This hybrid role offers a balance of classroom teaching and dedicated weekly release time for leadership duties. You will collaborate closely with Learning Managers to track progress, implement interventions and personalise learning, while ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and learner information processes are consistently upheld.
You will also benefit from bespoke support from senior education leaders and opportunities to collaborate with Curriculum Leads, sharing best practice and strengthening provision across the organisation.
Skills and Experience Required
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience of teaching learners with SEN (preferred)
* Strong knowledge and experience of designing and delivering a science curriculum
* Willingness to travel between sites within the locality to support learners
A valid driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance are essential due to regular travel requirements.
