About the role

We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to join the Computing Infrastructure research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the CHEDDAR Communications Hub and is fixed term for 6 months.

You will be contributing to an impact project on sustainable computer networks. In this project, Oxford and UWL are deploying carbon-aware networking solutions within communication testbeds. You will be involved in the implementation and evaluation of carbon-aware networking solutions and their integration with project partners’ contributions. The scope of the research will encompass aspects such as network monitoring, routing algorithms and network-hardware benchmarking.

About you

You should possess a MSc/MEng in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field, and be working towards a PhD/DPhil in Engineering or Computer Science, together with established expertise in wired computer networks and carbon-aware networking, significant coding experience in Python, experience working in a Linux environment and related scripting languages and a record of contributing to publications in IEEE, ACM or USENIX.
