Technical Support Engineer – Linux Web Hosting
Location: Near to Preston, Lancashire (Onsite)
Salary: £28,500 – £31,000 + benefits
Shift Options (choose one):
* Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (onsite – non-negotiable)
* Monday to Friday, 4pm–midnight (home-based after initial onsite training)
You must:
* Already live within commutable distance of Preston, Lancashire (no relocation whatsoever)
* Have full UK work rights (no sponsorship)
I'm hiring an experienced Technical Support Engineer with strong Linux command line skills, solid knowledge of web hosting platforms, and hands-on cPanel experience. You'll be joining a well-established cloud and hosting provider offering stability, full training, and support from a genuinely friendly technical team. This isn’t an entry-level role; you’ll need to hit the ground running.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting shared hosting customers (tickets & phone)
* Troubleshooting DNS, SSL, email, backups, and websites
* Managing cPanel accounts and migrations
* Reviewing server logs and monitoring alerts
* Updating documentation and knowledgebase
What you’ll need:
* Solid Linux CLI experience
* Strong grasp of shared hosting environments
* Root/admin-level cPanel experience
* Confident with DNS, SSL, IPs, email protocols, etc.
* Familiar with basic firewall rules and software installs
* Great communication skills – written and spoken
Nice to have:
* Scripting in Bash, PHP or Perl
* Understanding of networking and virtualisation
