BHSCT Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Senior Nurse Band 6
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the implementation and evaluation of local and regional cardiac patients attending the Cardiac Cath Lab in both elective and emergency situations, for adult and paediatric patients. The holder is required to teach and support other nursing and non-nursing staff in specialist procedures.The post holder is required to contribute to the on-call rota that operates to respond to out of hours emergencies.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and maintain individual patient care to agreed standard.
* Participate in the training and supervision of registered nurses, student nurses, post basic students and auxiliary staff in the delivery of patient care.
* Prepare reports for and receive reports from the day/night nursing team, paramedics, referral hospitals and other healthcare support teams.
* Co-operate with medical and paramedical staff to ensure that a high standard of patient care is given.
Skills and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC Register (General Adult Branch).
* Must have at least 2 years’ experience as RGN on NMC Register in Cardiac Cath Lab. OR 2 years’ relevant cardiology experience and 1 year Cath Lab experience.
* Actively participate in rostered off duty shifts, inclusive of the on-call rota.
* Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to assist in all procedures undertaken in the Cardiac Cath Lab inclusive of paediatric procedures.
* ILS training.
* Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
* Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance.
* Experience of teaching and mentoring others.
