About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Technology Director to lead the QEII Centre’s technology strategy and operations. This pivotal role holds overall accountability for the Centre’s audio-visual and IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless, cost-effective service delivery for both clients and staff. You will drive innovation, manage AV/IT projects, and lead the in-house AV team branded “QEII Live”, delivering exceptional event experiences.
Working closely with the CEO and Directors, you will shape and implement a forward-looking technology strategy, contribute to business planning, and champion our core values: Teamwork, Quality, Exceptional, Innovation, and Integrity.
Key Responsibilities
AV/IT Operations
* Lead AV/IT service delivery across conferences, exhibitions, digital signage, Wi-Fi, and staff systems. Manage AV/IT projects and capital investment planning, including tender processes. Oversee AV/IT budgets and contribute to revenue generation. Ensure compliance with health & safety and cyber security standards. Manage IT applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Ungerboeck/Momentus, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite). Maintain robust IT infrastructure and service desk operations.
Customer & Event Delivery
* Ensure high-quality AV production and ICT services for events. Drive new revenue streams internally and externally. Resolve customer complaints professionally and implement lessons learned. Collaborate with Sales & Marketing and Operations to enhance customer experience. Maintain cutting-edge AV and ICT capabilities, exploring AI integration.
Leadership & Relationship Management
* Lead and develop the QEII Live team to deliver excellence and innovation. Collaborate with the Directorate to drive strategy and foster an inclusive culture. Coach staff and implement succession planning. Build strong networks with freelancers, suppliers, and tech partners. Represent QEII in industry bodies and internal committees.
Data Protection
* Act as the Centre’s Data Protection Officer (DPO). Oversee data protection, retention, and cyber security policies. Manage records and information assets effectively.
About You
You are a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in AV and IT, experienced in leading high-performing teams and delivering complex projects. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven leadership in AV/IT infrastructure and event technology. Strong project management and budgeting skills. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication. In-depth knowledge of IT systems, cyber security, and data protection. Experience in driving revenue and service excellence.
