Purpose of job:
As a Creative Producer at Comic Relief, you’ll bring bold stories and entertainment ideas to life across every platform. From podcasts and pop-ups to YouTube shorts and TV moments, you’ll help shape content that captivates, inspires action, and turns creative ideas into reality.
At the heart of our Creative Services team, you’ll transform ideas into high impact, engaging content that resonates with our audiences. One week you might be developing a social-first video series; the next, producing a live-stream, podcast, corporate partner video, gaming activation or TV moment.
You will combine creativity with smart production processes, sparking original ideas and new approaches to how we work. By championing inclusive storytelling and amplifying diverse voices both in front of and behind the camera, you’ll help ensure Comic Relief stays bold, relevant, and truly reflective of the audiences we serve.
Key responsibilities:
* Strategically respond to briefs from across the organisation, crafting ideas that are bold, inclusive, and resonate with diverse audiences in authentic and engaging ways.
* Own the full production journey – develop, manage, and deliver standout content from first idea through to final delivery.
* Run productions end-to-end – from research and creative ideation to shoot production, post-production, and delivery. Create schedules, manage budgets, and keep projects moving by facilitating key meetings and aligning stakeholders.
* Lead shoots with confidence – set up and manage production days, brief internal teams and freelancers, and direct talent/contributors to capture the best possible content.
* Bring Comic Relief’s storytelling to life year-round – work with teams across the organisation to generate new content ideas that resonate with our audiences and support campaign goals.
* Sell the vision – craft treatments, pitch decks, and creative documents to bring ideas to life and secure buy-in.
* Champion best practice – work with Production Management to ensure productions meet safeguarding, consent, health & safety, risk management, and legal requirements, in partnership with Production Management colleagues.
* Drive efficiency – follow operational processes to make sure resources are used smartly and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Champion inclusive creativity – ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are at the heart of our work, both in front of and behind the lens
* Build brilliant collaborations – maintain strong relationships with external creatives who share our mission for change.
* Stay culture-savvy – keep up to date on trends, platforms, and production best practice, sharing expertise across the team.
Within your specialism (video, audio & digital):
* Produce across formats – lead the creation of video, audio, and digital assets for fundraising, partnerships, social, funding, and beyond.
* Collaborate creatively – work closely with a diverse range of writers, designers, and other partners (internal and external) to develop and deliver content that meets strategic briefs.
* Boost social impact – partner with our social team to create content and activations that drive engagement and generate income.
People management
* Line manage and mentor junior team members supporting their development and helping them thrive.
* Proactively undertake planning, prioritise activities and set clear and realistic objectives based on capacity, expertise and aspirations.
* Provide balanced, constructive feedback, undertake effective performance management to embed accountability and proactively support the professional development and growth of staff.
* Maintain regular two-way communication and dialogue with direct reports, ensuring information is cascaded and escalated as needed

Person specification
Essential Criteria
* Creative experience – you’ve produced entertainment and/or factual content that engages audiences.
* Video production skills – confident creating short-form video content from planning to post-production.
* Digital understanding – you know the difference between fundraising content and awareness content, and how to approach each.
* Social media knowledge – experience across major platforms, with curiosity for new formats and trends.
* Audience growth – experience building or engaging communities online.
* Production know-how – attention to detail, strong editorial judgement, and ability to deliver high-quality outputs.
* Proven ability to manage projects in dynamic environments, keeping organised and making clear editorial decisions.
* Communication skills – you can express your ideas clearly and confidently
Desirable Criteria
* Fundraising campaign experience – understanding how creative content can drive income as well as awareness.
* Innovation mindset – interest in experimenting with new storytelling formats, platforms, or technologies.
* Collaboration and mentorship – experience supporting junior colleagues and working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
* Relationship building – ability to maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders, freelancers, and external partners.
