Project Manager - Civil Engineering (HS2)
Location: Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
Rate: £500 - £600 per day (inside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join the HS2 delivery team, based in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire.
The role supports delivery of major HS2 civils and infrastructure works, including earthworks, utilities diversions, highways, drainage, structures and environmental mitigation. You will be working within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes.
Responsibilities:
Managing day-to-day delivery of HS2 work packages, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient execution
Maintaining accurate records of land access, completed land parcels, trenches and soil sampling locations, updating the land access tracker in line with HS2 requirements
Ensuring each land parcel has a detailed Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) report, clearly identifying working restrictions and environmental constraints
Ensuring all land parcels have pre-, during- and post-construction condition surveys completed and recorded
Applying and managing NEC contracts, including programme control, change management and cost reporting
Leading site teams to ensure compliance with HS2 standards, site branding, housekeeping and "Perfect Start" requirements
Chairing daily briefings and weekly/monthly safety meetings, driving HS2's Zero Harm and environmental objectives
Monitoring site works for compliance with design, specifications and environmental controls, implementing corrective actions where required
Managing the design management process, coordinating with designers to ensure timely approvals and technical compliance
Producing regular progress reports and forecasts for senior stakeholders
Providing leadership and line management to project staff, setting clear accountabilities and supporting team performance
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering civil engineering or major infrastructure projects, ideally within HS2, rail or highways
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management
Relevant qualifications and/or working towards chartered status (ICE, CIOB, RICS or similar)
CSCS card and SMSTS certification
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working in highly regulated environments
The ability to manage multiple work fronts and site locations
