BA (Hons) Games Art Course Leader
HE Senior Lecturer (£43,392 - £54,919 p.a. pro rata)
Interview W/C 1st July 2024
About the Role
Our new BA (Hons) Games Art course is one of four new courses including BSc Games Design, BA Visual Effects Art, and BSc Visual Effects Technical Direction forming, along with NTU’s established BA Animation course, the Digital Screen Arts subject area. We are part of the Design & Digital Arts Department within the Nottingham School of Art and Design. The subject area within the School builds on an established track record of highly employable alumni with strong creative and academic abilities to ensure students graduate with a unique combination of knowledge, skills and attributes aligned to the creative industries of the future.
As Senior Lecturer and Course Leader, you will provide academic leadership for the course, ensuring it reflects University and School policy, practice, and processes in addition to enhancing course quality, currency, future curriculum development, and students’ experience, progress, and retention. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective management and delivery of the course, working effectively with the Games Art team to develop creative and dynamic, learner-centred approaches to teaching and learning. The curriculum is designed to offer many course-, module-, and project-level collaborative opportunities requiring close working with the Principal Lecturer and other course leaders to maximise inter-disciplinary opportunities within the subject area.
We are seeking someone with a strong grasp of the art director role within a games production pipeline, experienced in creating 2D concept art while demonstrating familiarity with in-game 3D asset creation. You will ideally have both academic and industry experience within the subject area, possessing wider contextual research knowledge current to the games industry.
You will have a passion for creating appealing and engaging 2D concept art and be knowledgeable in 3D asset creation techniques and rendering for games. Additionally, your experience and creativity will support students in pushing the boundaries of what is considered as games art, to inspire innovation to engage new as well as traditional game players.
For more details, please look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every requirement, so don't be put off if you don't match these perfectly.
